I sometimes felt like I was trudging through the science and it seemed to take forever to get started. I wanted to like it more than I did. Good techno thriller and once it gets going it really takes off. ( ) I largely enjoyed the book. It had some similarities in flag to Daemon and Freedom(tm). I liked the strong female protagonists except the author went the usual route of killing off the human FBI agent and the female-ish ai and had the other female protagonist inexplicably hitched to the leading guy. Because. Just because. It is annoying. I've tried to branch out more this year and read more books that I typically wouldn't. For the most part, it's worked out great and I came across some I really enjoyed. This was not one, but maybe it's just too far out of realm. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the characters were believable and actually had some depth. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Particle physicist Jon Grady is ecstatic when his team achieves what they've been working toward for years: a device that can reflect gravity. Grady expects widespread acclaim for his entire team. Instead, his lab is locked down by a shadowy organization whose mission is to prevent at all costs the social upheval sudden technological advances bring. This Bureau of Technology Control uses the advanced technologies they have harvested over the decades to fulfill their mission. Presented with the opportunity to join the BTC, Grady balks, and is instead thrown into a nightmarish high-tech prison built to hold rebellious geniuses like himself. With so many great intellects confined together, can Grady and his fellow prisoners conceive of a way to usher humanity out of its its artificial dark age?
