Reflection: Nice early chapter book about finding your talent and fighting for what you believe in. Includes themes of friendship, cooperation, and fitting in. What a delightful book that would be a launching pad for so many lessons, including community building, accepting those who are different from ourselves, learning compassion, and most importantly finding your own voice. Hayley buys a ukulele at a garage sale, and soon works up the courage to ask her music teacher for assistance with some basic chords. Before too long Hayley is learning to sing simple songs, and soon she finds the courage to start her own school band.
