I liked this book because of the extra textual features ad because of the use of real photographs. The extra textual features were great because they introduced the style of textbooks to the young reader. They added a sense of interest and color outside of just the pictures. For example, each page has a script paper on it with fun facts like, "Malcom was elected class president when he was a student at Mason Junior High." I also love that the author used real photographs. This gave the reader a better visual of who Malcom X was and all that he did. It also helped to picture the time period in which Malcom X was influential and a prominent figure. I especially like the photograph of Malcom X speaking at a meeting for the Nation of Islam. The main message I took from this biography is that Malcom X was an incredible figure in history who worked with Muslims, civil rights, and tolerance. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Malcolm X was a courageous advocate for the rights of African Americans who led a fascinating, if sadly short, life. From his work for the Nation of Islam to his assassination, this book delicately handles the life of this important civil rights leader with age-appropriate language and content and a timeline for easy reference. Photographs of Malcolm X throughout his life enhance his conversion from militant black leader to peaceful civil rights activist. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
