I love these intense brooding heroes ( ) This was not at all what I was expecting, especially after the more fluffier rocker books I'd just read. Gut twisting! Heart wrenching! I cried, I yelled at the Nook, I fanned myself, I smiled a lot. A lot of the time, Jax reminded me more of a biker than rocker, and the way he talked kept bringing to mind Deuce (Undeniable). And E... I adored her! Feisty chick with tons of heart and lots of personality. The best thing, for me, was that these two came from truly troubled pasts. Their secrets weren't cheesy or fluffy, but seriously messed up, which made them both seriously messed up individuals. Also, I loved that you saw how things evolved over time, instead of just hearing about their past together. You went through it with them, so when things went haywire mid-book, you were right there with them... getting your heart ripped out of your chest. I am torn. The story was great. Really great. Perhaps a bit too much drama though. Jax and E both went through so much, it was pretty unbelievable. However, the characters were great (especially Boss) and the basis of the story was good. Now for the bad. First, the editing. Good gravy. If I read "Guy's" one more time I was going to scream. There needs to be some serious editing for basic grammatical errors. Second, the writing style is very clipped. I get where the author was going with it, but it was tough to read. It felt like there were parts that were just missing from the story. And Jax. I get that Jax is monosyllabic in his communication, but did every sentence need to end in "babe"? Oy. Bottom line, there is a lot of potential in this story line. I would love to see another book about Boss...edited this time :) I am torn. The story was great. Really great. Perhaps a bit too much drama though.
