Reading this has provided me with a wealth of useful information about Slovenia. It looks like a country worthy of spending a lot of time in. ( )

La lettura di una guida di viaggio è sempre un’operazione azzardata, da una parte il dettaglio di posti, che forse non vedrai, dall’altra la speranza che quei posti prima o poi li vedrai. Lonely planet è diventata un’icona dei viaggiatori indipendenti, del turista politicamente corretto, in realtà quando arrivi sul posto ti rendi conto che l’assenza di un adeguato corredo fotografico e l’impostazione generale incidono sulla qualità dell’informazione, soprattutto sotto il profilo della completezza della stessa. E passiamo alla Slovenia, la conosco bene sotto il profilo autostradale, l’ho ripassata tre volte, ma sempre per andarmi a chiudere in un albergo ed iniziare una dieta. Più che legittima, quindi, la curiosità per di una lettura del genere, alla fine passare per un Paese e non conoscere nulla non è nel mio costume. L’impressione che la Slovenia fosse ben più di un paese con grandi casinò e qualche bordello era forte, a Lubiana avevo passato poche ore, ma la città è oggettivamente un gioiellino: ma, ad esempio, non sapevo che quel delizioso incrocio di elementi strutturali e decorativi del centro storico, balaustre, ponti e lampioni, fossero frutto del lavoro del genio dell’architetto Plecnik. Sono stato a Caporetto, apprendendo lì che fosse slovena e non italiana, ma, soprattutto ignorando quanto ci fosse da vedere. Lezione chiara, prima di partire informarsi, era un regola mia, tipicamente mia, devo rifarla mia, e questa benedetta Slovenia me la voglio proprio vedere bene. ( )
