My thoughts on the audio:
George Blagden is the narrator for The Runaway Queen. You might remember him from the 2012 film adaptation of Les Miserables. He played Grantaire in the film. Blagden now lends his voice to the second installment of The Bane Chronicles. He has a pleasant easygoing voice. I have absolutely no complaints here. He wasn't the best I've ever come across, but he was better than average. I would definitely like to hear him narrate more books.

My thoughts on the book:
Magnus Bane is smack dab in the middle of the French Revolution. He's recruited by an attractive count to help rescue Marie Antoinette from the horrors that await her. Bane can't refuse, so he plans an escape. Only to be thwarted by angry mobs, vampires, and possibly a hot air balloon.
I am becoming a huge fan of Bane's. I love his flippant and flamboyant attitude He's absolutely charming. I love how Clare gives the readers a glimpse into Bane's soul. I'm a huge history lover, so I especially love this 'take' on the French Revolution. If you've not read the previous story, don't worry. These are stand alone stories that are a quick and fun read!

Yet another great read from Cassandra Clare! Not as in depth as her other works but still as delectable. Oh, and Magnes Bane still one of my favorite characters! ( )

Disappointed. As much as I love Magnus... I am expecting MORE to this Bane Chronicles. But as of now, it keeps getting my hopes up. And I still want to think that on the nezt one, there'll be SOMETHING. Something that is worth knowing, fun to read, so Magnus that I just want to keep on reading the book forever.

I mostly scan the first part, the description over boring stuffs. I mean, the place is Paris, it's supposed to be a fun place but when I was reading it, I was bored by all the descriptions. I just want the lines and the real story behind this book.

Marie Antoinette is surprisingly... a weak character. lol. Literally. Figuratively, whatever. Anyway, please... please... make it worth my time and reading the next installment, next month! PLEASE! I know Magnus is worth it, but the story is not really THAT engaging. I feel like something is wrong there. >:( ( )

L' introduzione con descrizioni dettagliate di Parigi, del contesto storico, di Magnus, del suo singolare abbigliamento, ecc... aiuta a coinvolgere da subito nella vicenda.
"What Really Happened in Peru" probabilmente è più "completo", ci sono più elementi, anche per come è strutturato, ci sono diverse avventure, momenti e tempi molto diversi e distanti, quindi più possibilità di esplorare aspetti differenti. In questo ci sono due situazioni che si sviluppano in contemporanea, da una parte, una missione particolare di cui Magnus è stato incaricato e che potrebbe cambiare le sorti della Rivoluzione Francese, dall' altra, i rapporti che lui deve mantenere con i vampiri di Parigi. Queste due situazioni poi verranno in qualche modo ad intrecciarsi tra loro ed in particolare la personalità di Magnus esalta il lato più divertente della vicenda...e se c'è "un uomo molto attraente con i capelli neri e gli occhi blu" Magnus non può far altro che impazzire XD
La vita e le avventure di Magnus hanno sempre aspetti molto intriganti. Apprezzo tantissimo come lui riesca a vivere le sue passioni, brevi o meno che siano, sempre così completamente ed intensamente, cosa che in TMI e TID è emersa solo in parte e che invece in queste storie brevi si ha la possibilità di evidenziare di più, grazie al fatto che sono ambientate in luoghi e tempi diversi e alla grande quantità di persone che così Magnus può incontrare e con cui può condividere qualcosa.
Io non sono una grande amante delle storie brevi, mi danno la sensazione che manchi qualcosa, che non possano essere particolarmente profonde e che restino sempre un po' superficiali, anche solo per la brevità. In questo caso invece mi ha stupito e mi piace tantissimo la capacità di queste autrici di riuscire, anche in storie così brevi, a metterci tutto quello che serve per farne davvero una lettura avventurosa, avvincente, interessante e coinvolgente.
Tra l' altro a proposito delle autrici, a parte la Clare che chiaramente adoro ed è una delle mie scrittrici preferite in assoluto, proprio in vista di "The Bane Chronicles" ho letto "Unspoken" di Sarah Rees Brennan (per ora c'è solo in inglese) e "Shades" di Maureen Johnson e dopo aver letto questi bellissimi romanzi che mi hanno colpito molto ero sicurissima che "The Bane Chronicles" non potevano che essere fantastiche e infatti, per il momento, è proprio così. Sono altrettanto sicura che soprattutto i prossimi due capitoli saranno ancora meglio, visto chi incontreremo! ( )
