Fairy Tale
Summary:
A king threw a fewst for his daughters but left 1 of teh wise women out of it. She arrived and said the princess would die on her 18th birthday from a spindle. Another wise woman said that she would not die but would sleep for 100 years. Although banned, Princess Rosamond found a spindle and pricked her finger putting the whole kingdom to sleep for 100 years surrounding the castle with thick thorns. Many princes tried to gain entry but were caught in the thorns dying a painful death until the time passed. Then a young prince came and freed the kingdom and married Rosamond.
Critique:
Very consistent with other fairy tales of the time with a moral written in. This tale displayed some of the gruesomeness from other Grimm stories. Quick read with a happy ending.
Activity:(After)
Write a story about why the king scorned the 13 wise woman. Include who she was, what happened, and why he behaved this way.
