This book is about Miss Malarkey and her class of first graders. One day, she moves into the same apartment building (or "apartment house" as it is called in the book) as one of her students. This throws off the student's imagination, as he thought she lived at school. I would recommend this book to kinder-2nd grade students as it is more on the "easy" side of content for students to read. Mostly meaning that there are probably two sentences per page with mostly illustrated pages. ( )

This book is narrated by a boy who thinks, with his class, that the teachers at his school live in the school. One day his current teacher moves into an apartment in his apartment building, and he becomes surprised by what the teacher does outside of school. I liked this book and thought it was cute! I also loved the illustrations and how it reminded me of a comic book. I did not like that at the end of the book; the boy did still not understand that teachers do not live in schools. I think this is why the book is geared towards higher grades. ( )

This book is a good example of a contemporary fiction because it is told from a students' perspective in a present day school and the thoughts that a teacher could live at school could actually happen within a student's imagination. ( )

The big idea of this story was to show how teacher's have a life outside of school.

I loved this book for a few reasons. I loved the point of view of this book. The story was told from a student's perspective about what he thinks about teacher's private lives. It was humorous because the students all thought that the teacher's live, eat, and sleep in the school.

I also liked this book because it was relatable to me personally. I remember when I was younger, I used to think it was so weird to see teacher's outside of school because it was so strange to me that they had personal lives. Now that I am older and have personal relationships with some of my old teachers, it seems so silly that I ever thought that. And, now that I am going to be a teacher, I can definitely expect students to view me the same way. ( )

I absolutely loved this book! I thought it was such a cute book. The main reason I loved this book is because it is easily relatable for students in elementary school. For example, this entire book is a story based on students thinking their teachers live at school. I know when I was in elementary school I didn't think teachers went home. Just like the students in the book, I thought they slept at school. Another reason I liked this book was the ending. During the book the student's first grade teacher that they thought lived at the school, moved in to one of the students apartment buildings. After they have seen that teachers do not live in school the book ends, "Next year I'll have Mrs. Boba. Mrs. Boba doesn't live in my building. I guess she lives in room12." It made me laugh because that is definitely something a younger student in elementary school would do. Overall this was a great and humorous book. I think that the big idea of this book is just for enjoyment. It is a great book for both students and teachers. ( )
