I liked the story’s language use. The story used a lot of figurative language to really help readers visualize the tale. For example, many onomatopoeias such as “craaack!” and “whoosh!” were used. Including the figurative language in the story created a more interesting and engaging tale about the Monkey King. I also liked this book for is it’s engaging and organized writing. The story begins by telling how the Monkey King became who he was and then goes through a progression of life events in order to give the reader some background information on the Monkey King. The story includes a lot of dialogue between characters which makes it engaging and fun to read. The main idea of this story was to tell the great tale of the Monkey King in China. ( ) I read this book because two of the other books I read for my class included stories about the Monkey King, so I wanted to read another retelling of the story to learn more. This was a thorough story with lots more detail that gave a lot of depth and interest to the story. I am still not sure why the Monkey King is considered a hero since he seems like a conceited jerk to me. This could be used to teach about Chinese folktales or folktales in general. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
