Fantasy. Fiction. Thriller. HTML:NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Acclaimed author Kevin Hearne makes his hardcover debut with the new novel in his epic urban fantasy series starring the unforgettable Atticus O’Sullivan.
For nearly two thousand years, only one Druid has walked the Earth—Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company.
Atticus’s apprentice Granuaile is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy.
And Owen has some catching up to do.
Atticus takes pleasure in the role reversal, as the student is now the teacher. Between busting Atticus’s chops and trying to fathom a cell phone, Owen must also learn English. For Atticus, the jury’s still out on whether the wily old coot will be an asset in the epic battle with Norse god Loki—or merely a pain in the arse.
But Atticus isn’t the only one with daddy issues. Granuaile faces a great challenge: to exorcise a sorcerer’s spirit that is possessing her father in India. Even with the help of the witch Laksha, Granuaile may be facing a crushing defeat.
As the trio of Druids deals with pestilence-spreading demons, bacon-loving yeti, fierce flying foxes, and frenzied Fae, they’re hoping that this time, three’s a charm.

WTF! I will have to look at previous books in the series to see if I have had the same complaint. 1. This is an obvious 1/2 book. I expect the 2nd half to be published next year, yes? 2. Because of #1 it was a horrible cliffhanger.

Anyone who follows me knows how much I loathe cliffhangers. They're a trick and a cheat. You should trust your story and talent to bring readers back, not this shite! Take a look at Seanan McGuire and Ilona Andrews--that's how you write a long running series and finish each book.

I'm done with the Iron Druid series until it gets an ending.....the cliffhanger totally soured my whole experience of the book.

Loved the book, and the only reason it doesn't get 5/5 is that it is split into 3 different narrators. This meant that every time there was a cliffhanger you had to read 2 other chapters before finally finding out what happened. With some books this is a good technique, but I've never had any trouble getting through any of the Iron Druid books so it was more an annoyance! ( )

Great story!
I've read many of his other stories and loved 'em all.

I've always been a sucker for the man-out-of-time genre, and Owen Kennedy's assimilation into 2022 society was fun to see. (also - why was this book set in 2022 although written in 2014?).
Another fun thing about this story is the shout-out to the tiny town that I was born and raised in Arizona. ( )

I liked this book far more than the others, I enjoy the ones where you get to have free time with the characters you have been following and you finally get to see how the secondary characters view their role in the story, for that I really like this book, it feels fresh to the series and I think it was quite a breather in the story based on its past books. Don't be tickling my ass with a feather.
You don't look like a man, you look like a lad who had a rat die on his chin.
If there is anything I can warn you about when it comes to expanding your lifespan, it's that boredom is your enemy. If you get too bored with the routine of it, the endless eating, and sleeping, and shitting and working so that you can eat, sleep and shit some more you'll do something stupid in an attempt to entertain yourself. And you'll die. Or you'll slip into depression, make the last shift and live out your days as an animal. Or you'll get bitter thinking about the past and everything you've lost and it will turn you against people. So my free advice is to always find something to love, and to make you laugh. Something that will keep you in the here and now. Hounds are good at it. And they work for me.
