Eggs come in many different shapes and sizes, but the most important question to young, curious minds is what will hatch? Science for the very young is done best through joyous learning; education will certainly hatch from these pages.

This book is adorable and informative! It's all about oviparous (egg laying) creatures and their young who hatch. It has rhyming text clues to help you guess who will be hatching from the eggs. It also has various sized and shaped holes to give you an idea of how the eggs might be. My blind student loved this feature because she could tactilely interact with the story. The illustrations are fun and colorful and there are many interesting adjectives to describe the eggs and animals. The back has a little educational section with more information about each animal and their young featured in the book. There is also a section highlighting the stages of embryo development in a chicken egg. This book is fun and enlightening for all elementary aged children. Could be a great introduction or accompaniment to a science lesson about eggs and/or the life cycle. ( )

I enjoyed reading this book because its style and tone made it easy to read. However, I don't think it's a very beneficial book to read because it did not have any details about the birds. It just said what will hatch and then you'd find the animal on the follwing page. I thought this was very cute and could be useful for early childhood. However, I would not incorporate this book in grade 2nd and up because it barely has any information in the book. ( )

I really enjoyed the content of this book. I thought it was interesting to learn the color, texture, and size of the different eggs for different animals. I liked the end of the book when it stated the "time in egg," what the mother does after she lays the eggs, where the lay the eggs, and how many siblings will be born. This book was very educational and the illustrations were colorful and interactive. ( )

What Will Hatch? is a cute Science picture book about different types of eggs. The book tells you the environment and ask the reader "What will hatch?" This makes the reader make an educated guess as to what animal laid the egg. Also, at the end of the book it reviews all of the different animals time in egg, mother, where the animal lays the egg, and how many siblings the animal has. It also has an illustration of chicken egg development which is wonderful. Great book. ( )

This book is very good for teaching children about animals and how they are born. The book goes through a variety of animals to show how they are born, or really hatched! It goes through a variety of animals in a variety of ecosystems to show how they are all born the same way. I also really enjoyed the writing in this book, it was very funny and cute, and also rhymed.
