Better than I thought it would be

I had a hard time getting into the first couple of chapters but by the fourth I was hooked. Great twists at the end with relationships, strengths, and group composition. I plan to read the second book. ( )

A group of 12 variously talented kids escape from "Plantations". These plantations are run by aliens who have taken over Earth and started farming and harvesting humans. Each child is engineered and grown to have special "talents" which make them stronger, faster, and smarter, than normal humans. But why are the aliens doing this? And how will this group, known as the saviors, save humanity?

I liked this book after the 80% mark. It was a very slow start but the ending made up for it, it grabbed you and made you want to read the next one in the series. If I could point out one more small thing that bugged me (and it may just be me, I am noticing that sometimes the strangest things about books irk me...) was the sentence length. All the sentences were about the same length and it kind of made it read like a telegraph or a series of twitter messages.

But overall, it was an interesting story and I would definitely pick up the next in the series. ( )
