This book was an AMAZING read for me. It started off where Shades of Pearl left off. The book grabbed me right from the start and I did not want to put it down. I personally love Arianne's writing style. I think she did an excellent job with these characters and the story line was VERY original. As you can see from my opening sentence, this book made me feel so many emotions, and even though the H & h did things that made me want to beat them, I was still totally engrossed in the story. ( )

I am not going to go into detail over the premise of these books, nor am I going to go into detail over the plot. You will have to read these books on your own to get the big picture. Now this trilogy is similar to Fifty Shades in many ways and in many ways it stands out on its own. Like Fifty Shades, you have to read all three books to truly enjoy the story. The plot is similar and dissimilar. Rich guy meets girl who intrigues him.... Well that's where the difference begins. First off, Pearl is 40. By definition, she is a cougar. A cougar that falls for the ever-so-rich Alexandre. If you are looking for steamy sex, it's right here. If you are looking for shock and awe, it is right here. If you are looking for drama and deep seeded pasts, again right here. You are probably wondering why I gave this trilogy an overall 3.75. Well, honestly, I wasn't enthralled. I had to come back to these books a few times. They didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. The story, overall, is very good. I just wasn't hooked with this trilogy. Others may feel differently than I do. This story didn't quite do it for me. I can respect the talent and imagination it takes to make the story and the back story to unfold, therefore, I had to rate and write this review as an overall, rather than one by one. ( )

Picked up this from a Goodreads list and how glad am I that i did!

Pearl is an experience woman with secrets, Alexandre is a wealthy 25 year old who falls for this older lady hook, line and sinker! You'll want to smack Laura and be curious about Sophie! You'll fall harder for Alexandre because he does love Pearl and he wants to be hers and he wants her in every way!

There are many twists and turns and a cliffhanger to finish but fortunately the whole series has been published so I just 1-clicked the next, and then the next!

If you liked 50 Shades then in all honesty don't expect to find Pearl tied and spanked, Alexandre isn't that type of character, but they are both strong characters and even thought there isn't totally in the 50 shades et al genre its definitely a hot read!

I am thrilled at the ending. THRILLED! The drama, oh...the drama. It's awesome.

Shadows of Pearl is a good read, not great...but good. I am not drawn to the characters as much as I want to be. Some of the language is just downright stupid. (if I had to read anyone talking about her "pearlette" one more time I was going to vomit. And, really? your V-8???)

At 40, I would expect that Pearl would be a bit wiser and not such a wimp. She was so in awe that she could be loved by a wealthy young man, it made her seem weak and pathetic. Also, at 40 I would really hope that she would have come to recognize that what happened to her earlier in her life was not her fault. She seriously needs therapy. Lot's of it.

I will read the sequel, which I am sure will be a HEA. I do want to see how it all plays out!
