This book was a bit shorter on story (four issues), but made up for it in part with a lovely portrait gallery and a collection of B&W art that reminded me of why I first started reading the series. A lot of things go wrong in this part of the story, reminding us of the consequences of lies and deceit. A worthy successor to the original comics, I want to read the next volume. I did drop it half a star because it is shorter than the earlier books.

Don't start with this volume, but if you enjoy fantasy graphic novels, then do pick up the first volume. ( )

ElfQuest's "Siege At Blue Mountain" arc (collected here and in Book 6) is one of the least popular among fans, it seems, but it's not bad at all. The story, which deals with Winnowill kidnapping Dewshine's flying son, Windkin, is fun, quick-moving, plus you get Winnowill and Rayek meeting for the first time. Can't go wrong there. A bit shallower than either The Original Quest that came before it and the Kings Of The Broken Wheel arc that followed, but slightly-not-as-awesome Wendy comics are still head-and-shoulders above most comics on their best days. The story's a page-turner and the art, as always, is beautiful.

I'm a huge ElfQuest fan, but the beginning of this one was slow. Still, ElfQuest = *heart*
