With Fables being number one, this is easily turning into my second favorite Vertigo comic. Love the characters and the story telling and starting to dig the art work too. I love crime fiction and 100 Bullets has become a drug for me. Buying the paperback deluxe editions and I already want more. This seriously would make a good TV show because it's set up for something I'd binge watch.

I've read a ton of Vertigo titles now and this one like I said is become a high favorite. Not only has it got a lot of praise, I can see why it has. It's very different form most Vertigo stuff (reads more like Image today) and unlike other Vertigo crime stuff, it has more to offer in my opinion. I mostly got fantasy/horror stuff from Vertigo because the crime stuff never looked interesting to me. 100 Bullets caught my attention though.

Not sure if I said this in my last review, but this a a lot better writing then Azzarello's run on Wonder Woman. I liked his take on her, but had problems that it was too easy of a read. I'd read a trade with in an hour and felt like I wasted all this money reading something that easy. 100 Bullets thankfully doesn't read like Wonder Woman. In fact it's has a lot more reading and it's smarter too. Keeps making me think what if I gt a briefcase with a gun and 00 untraceable bullets?

Also need to praise the art again and probably will each volume. Usually Risso art style isn't my cup of tea, but with this book it works. Not only is there a conversation going on with two characters, but he sometimes will draw his own story going on in the background. Like in this two nurses having sex while an old lady dies or some woman trying to seduce a boy who clearly doesn't want her. Okay, so it not art for everyone, but this guy proves you don't just read a comic book. Art is a HUGE part in the books and 100 Bullets prove that fact.

This issue I liked better then the first one if that's even possible. A lot of people told me it was going to get better and they were right. We are introduced to new characters all which I like in some way or another. Like these characters are all anti-heroes. Like most of the crime stuff I like, it shows you you really can't trust people. I think that's what makes this book so good though. There are no knights in shining armor. All the armor is covered in mud.

I think I liked the "Sell Fish & Out to Sea" story the most in this. It had an interesting story with Jack's family. I also really liked the fact it was in Boston. Not the stereotypical Boston either. Azzarello (like always) was good not to push on the heavy Boston accent, but just hearing Jack say "wicked" made me smile. I also enjoyed the last story in this with the inner detective dialogue, but with a twist. It kind of reminded me of Chinatown a little bit.

If you like Vertigo and want a good book I rally recommend 100 Bullets. It's a lot like Fables where these two guy know how to write an arc and a good one-shot. And Like I said before, it doesn't read like most Vertigo and that all the better. I'm really interested to see how this ends and (SPOILERS): I liked the clue of "CROATOA". I think I just made a link between that and the memory loss parts. ( )
