The number of people that these girls have hurt/maimed/killed (or assumed they have) is staggering! Or maybe just laughable at this point? ( )

Crushed is the penultimate novel in the Pretty Little Liars series. Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer are preparing for prom while trying to get at least one step ahead of A. To do this, they get burner phones and use Spencer's future stepfather's houses as headquarters because it is equipped with a panic room. They set up a suspects board which solidifies the fact that Real Ali has a helper, most likely a man.

They also assigned each of themselves duties: Spencer is going to investigate Real Ali. This leads her to a conspiracy theory blogger named Chase who is looking into the Real Ali investigation. Emily is going to reach out to Iris, Real Ali's roommate at The Preserve. Of course, when Iris barters tidbits about Real Ali for temporary freedom, Emily has no choice but to comply.

Hanna reluctantly volunteers at the Burn clinic to see if she can get anything from Graham, the guy from Burned who chased Aria into the boiler room with something very important to say...until an explosion landed him a coma. There she patches things up with her ex-boyfriend Sean and befriends a burn victim named Kyla. Aria has to investigate her boyfriend Noel, who is looking more and more suspicious with passing day as Real Ali's helper.

It also doesn't help the girl that an Agent Fuji is investigating the Tabitha Clark Jamaica investigation and because of an overseas indiscretion with a guy who may or may not be dead that Aria has in her possession a very valuable and stolen piece of artwork.

I liked Crushed but I do hope the next book coming out, Deadly, is the last. I honestly think that Shepard cannot write another four books and have it be of the same quality. Crushed felt like there is an endgame coming and all of the loose ends will be tied, all of the questions answered. I'm going to assume that Deadly will be close if not on Graduation Day for the Pretty Little Liars and it's going to be epic.

Crushed had good action and I was losing it toward the end and the discovery in the shed. Also, the What Happens Next did something it has never done before that made it seem that much more foreboding and final. ( )
