The Summer Before I Met You is written in the first person and is told by the camp counselor of the cricket camp who Kami and Angela helped the summer before Jared and the rest of the Lynburns came to Sorry-In-The-Vale; it's the same cricket camp that was mentioned a few times in Unspoken.

As the story isn't told from Kami's point of view, we get a glimpse at a outsider's view on her, her personality and her relationship with Angela. I found it to be a cute little story and the insight that the reader got on Kami, Angela and Rusty's relationship was valuable. We see their relationship in Unspoken, however, it was good to see it from another person's perspective.

It's a quick read so I wouldn't get into it a whole lot, but it is quite funny to read and there are a lot of laugh out loud moments that reminded me a lot of Unspoken. I thought it was a good companion to the book.

The summer before the Lynburns return to Sorry-on-the-Vale and restart the cycle of magic and oppression, Kami and Angela have a fun time at summer camp, complete with a foiled burglary attempt and a love interest. Sprightly and cute, with hints of the darkness Kami can already sense. ( )

I love Angela so much, if I could ever conjure a patronus I'd like it to be her. ( )
