This story is painfully average with a perspective of third person narrator and extremely simple language, I wouldn't be surprised if most students were disengaged by the story. The pacing was a sluggish, which was only barely helped by the full page illustrations. I wish there was more to say about this piece of children's literature, but between two simple characters that consists of only their descriptors, its nothing to write home about if to even write at all ( )

George is home from school because of the snow and is bored. George builds a big snowman that comes to life and they enjoy playing together....until he melts.

IN this book a boy builds a snowman who comes to life and talks and plays with him. When the sun comes out the snowman melts, but the boy rebuilds him when it snows again.

A nice simple story that should pull kids away from the new tablet they got from Santa and encourage them to exercise both their bodies and their imaginations. I enjoyed it a lot. I like how the melting is not a big deal, just a sigh and maybe a sniffle, and let's move along to new joys. ( )

Summary: George stays home from for a snow day and he is really bored and just sits in the house staring out the window. He then sees slopes of snow in his front yard and decides to go outside and try them out. While playing in the snow he decides to build a snowman and when he puts all the fixings on the snowman he finds the snowman smiling at him.

Personal Reaction: Such a cute book. I think this will get all children excited to build a snowman just to see if the unexpected happens. Books like this one really help children's imagination.

Classroom ideas: I would read this to my students so they could tell me their personal snowman stories and use their imaginations.
