Rushing to and fro doesn't come off as a whole lotta fun. ( )

Nate, Kate, and sister Maddie all seem to be running late. This book walks you through the morning rituals of getting ready and out the door in a hurry. This is an exciting book with an unexpected ending. I really enjoyed how this book takes you through their morning and hits you with a surprise at the end. In one scene, there is chaos in the kitchen; Kate is trying to make breakfast, pack lunches, feed the dog and cat, and make coffee. I really enjoyed this part because of all the excitement going on in the illustrations. This scene gives you a good sense of what a chaotic morning looks like. Illustrator Yaccarino does a great job with detailed pictures to help tell this clever story. In his illustrations you can really see the look of panic on every ones faces as, they are rushing to get ready. This is a great picture book for early elementary and young readers; an excellent book to curl up to and read in your spare time. –Alicia Betzold
