Sometimes, when fate intervenes, it’s easier to accept that some things are just meant to be. What’s a girl to do…
Cailey Manolakis spent three years married to a man she thought she could change only to realize the task was impossible. After seeking a divorce from the cheating mooch, Cailey packed up her entire life and moved to the small town of Mystery Springs to take care of her absent, yet ailing father. The decision didn’t come lightly, and she hadn’t expected to go it alone. Though her solitary new life did encounter one or two bumps along the way, Cailey has settled in nicely. With a few best sellers published, her three year old Jack Russell Terrier, Sage, by her side, and her coffee shop – Percolation – thriving, Cailey couldn’t have predicted what would happen next. After three long years without a single word, the man she glimpses at the lodge – not the lusty illusion she first expected – turns out to be her former best friend Jack. Torn between hating him for abandoning her and the underlying physical attraction she can’t ignore, Cailey finds Jack’s reappearance in her life both an annoyance and a saving grace. With a stalker making his presence known and some of her friendships going belly up, Cailey looks to Jack for the security and comfort she needs most. Already having suffered numerous let downs by those she thought were supposed to care about her, Cailey learns that keeping the solitary, peaceful life she enjoys, to be an impossible feat. But with six foot four inches of incredibly hot man sticking by your side day and night, what’s a girl to do? What’s a guy to do…
Jack Shelton spent years lusting after his best friend’s wife, though being the gentleman that he is he’s kept the secret to himself. Surprised that she uprooted her life after her divorce, and turned her back on him and their friendship, Jack does the one thing his pride will allow him to do – he lets her walk away. After three years of a downward spiral and a more recent injury suffered in the line of duty, Jack decides the time has come to make some hard choices in his life – accept the burnout looming in his near future or make a life altering change. With a leave of absence from his job as a detective with the Dallas Police Department – his only option for getting his head back on straight – Jack takes a road trip south to Mystery Springs and the one woman he can’t get off of his mind. Locating Cailey turns out to be easier than expected, but walking back into her life and picking up where they left off requires some effort. Finding out she hasn’t been secretly pining away for him for the last three years, but rather getting on with her own life, relationships and all, Jack gets to deal with more than just matters of the heart. Grateful for the turn of events sending him to Cailey when she needed him the most, Jack finds protecting her to be a full time job, both from the stalker lurking in the dark of night and from the people she calls friends. But the hardest job of all is going to be convincing her that walking away (again) isn’t in his plans. The stubborn woman who owns more than a small piece of his heart doesn’t make it easy, but what’s a guy to do.… (plus d'informations)
