"Big Bad Ironclad! covers the history of the amazing ironclad steam warships used in the Civil War. From the ship's inventor, who had a history of blowing things up and only 100 days to complete his project, to the mischievous William Cushing, who pranked his way through the whole war, this book is filled with surprisingly true facts and funny, brave characters that modern readers will easily relate to"--Publisher's web site.… (plus d'informations)

Nathan Hale (the patriot) is still standing at the gallows awaiting his execution, and is asked by his executioners to recall another story. This one is about the iconic battle of the Confederacy's Merrimack (Virginia) and the Union's Monitor. Hale has done his research about the military men and epic battle. A colorful graphic novel, which may be an effective way of teaching history to those that would otherwise not be interested.

P.S. Sorry to see the return of the simpleton, hangman. ( )

This book is mainly about a Naval Officer named William Cushing, and Nathan Hale. Cushing is fighting in the Civil war, while Nathan is telling the story about him to two other people. In the story Cushing and other people are facing naval battles, and fights between Ironclads. Will Cushing survive the fierce battles that are happening? Read to find out. I like this book mainly because it blends together history, comedy, and a great graphic novel perfectly. I reccomend this book to anyone who read any of the other books, or people who enjoy graphic novels. ( )

I think this is a great book! I love the style of illustrations, and that it's done in comic book form. This makes it more interesting and engaging. The fact that this book discusses real events (with a humorous and light twist) makes it easy to digest historical events and understand some of the motives behind these past occurrences. I like how the characters maintain their voice and personality while telling history in a fun way. The big idea of this book is to provide factual information about the civil war ironclad ships in an entertaining manner! ( )
