This book is about a young girl named Laura and her family, which consists of her, her dad and her stepmom. Laura is going over the different sentimental buttons on the memory string to try and better her memory of her family and her late mother. This book is primarily crafted with paintings and some drawings. I would recommend this book to 2nd-4th grade students, as it is a picture book, however it does deal with the concept of death and "new" parenting styles. ( ) This book is about a little girl named Laura, who inherits a memory string, that has buttons on it. These buttons aren’t just buttons, each one has a special meaning behind them. While she is explaining the meaning behind each one to her cat, her cat breaks the string and all the buttons fly off the string into the yard. Laura’s father and stepmother help her find her buttons, but they couldn’t find one. Laura went to sleep that night, her dad and stepmom continued to search, her stepmom found the button. This showed Laura that her stepmom doesn’t want to replace her mom and her memories she has, her stepmom just wants to be apart of it. In the end, Laura is more accepting of her stepmom. It is a good children book in which parent-daughter relationship is the focus. The author used a necklace that buttons were stringed together to represent the memory a kid had. The plot that the girl changed from disliking her step mother to accepting her as her mother because of her regain of her beloved buttons is so moving and touching. Genre: Realistic Fiction Review: This is a good realistic fiction book because it deals with a variety of topics students at a young age may face (such as a parent's death and or having a step-parent.) The character is of a young age, and so that makes it easier for young students to relate to as well. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
