In which a detective making a cursory investigation of the suicide of an elderly dramatist is drawn further into the case to suspect foul play after the occurrence of a series of queer events. These include some puzzling messages on the victim's computer, his attraction to the victim's daughter, some thugs who appear to have an inordinate interest in the dramatist's last play, and, especially, the appearance of two aged eccentrics called Paul and John who claim to be time travellers who pass their time starting up new religions. This adds up to an interesting twist on the classic mystery format and the book reads quickly and effortlessly.
