In which a detective making a cursory investigation of the suicide of an elderly dramatist is drawn further into the case to suspect foul play after the occurrence of a series of queer events. These include some puzzling messages on the victim's computer, his attraction to the victim's daughter, some thugs who appear to have an inordinate interest in the dramatist's last play, and, especially, the appearance of two aged eccentrics called Paul and John who claim to be time travellers who pass their time starting up new religions. This adds up to an interesting twist on the classic mystery format and the book reads quickly and effortlessly. A playwright dives from a hotel window. Murder or suicide? For Detective Sullivan, how he answers that question could mean the difference between life and death, as he becomes embroiled in a series of events that lead him toward a surprising answer, and assisted by some very unusual companions. What about the old man who calls himself Paul of Tarsus? His locust eating friend John? Are they witnesses, suspects, or innocent bystanders? And what in the world does Sam Brownback have to do with it all? If Rudy can untangle this mess in time, perhaps he can still save the woman he loves. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Detective Sullivan knew murder when he saw it. Even after signing the report listing the death as suicide, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Perhaps it was the grotesque figure of the deceased sprawled on the pavement. Perhaps it was the eerie message on the computer in his hotel room. Something didn't feel right. Now he was headed into the unknown with a delusional old man who called himself St. Paul. Was Paul leading Rudy to Becca? Or was he leading him into a trap? Rudy couldn't shake the feeling that the answer could threaten to shake apart the universe itself. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
