This quote seems to sum up the whole book for me

It’s not that I needed a man, or particular men, to own me, use me; it was this yearning for something else, for the zone of nirvana that I reached in those moments of senseless sex and even degradation or humiliation, and which made me feel more alive than at any other time.

Jackson, Vina (2012-09-18). Eighty Days Yellow (Eighty Days Tril) (Kindle Locations 3431-3433). Open Road E-riginal. Kindle Edition.

I felt nothing between any of the characters - everyone just went through the motions, nobody seemed to care for each other. Summer a very talented musician must have had such low self esteem that she let her self be used and told herself she was enjoying it.
The sex seemed mechanical, i actually think any orifice would have done in most of the scenes, even a blow up doll.
As for Characters, Dominick just was, and Victor i truly disliked. The only scene that held some interest for me was the first time in the crypt with the blindfolded musicians and a naked Summer and her violin.
For me this was a boring hard to stay interested book - the overall concept was good, but the delivery just didn't do it for me - it was pages of "moments of senseless sex and even degradation or humiliation"
Another thing i didn't like was how the sections changed, it didn't seem to flow well, the changes were logical, but many felt disconnected.
this book was almost a Did Not Finish - but i hung on till the end. I will not be reading the 2 remaining books of the trilogy ( )

Bien escrito y original . ( )

This book may be in the same genre as Fifty Shades of Grey and the title may sound the same but that's where the majority of its similarities end. Summer from Eight Days and Ana from Fifty Shades are very different. In Summer is an undying urge to be dominated where as Ana is pushed into that life style, mainly for her love of Christian. Between Summer and Dominik is no love story. There is something but not love.

Dominik first comes across Summer as she is busking in a London underground station, playing the Violin. He goes a bit stalkerish after and visits the same spot night after night hoping to see her again but she's not there. Then while reading the newspaper, by chance he comes across her and is saddened to read that her violin was distorted by some drunken football hooligans not that long ago, and decides that he will buy her a new one if she agrees to his terms.

She does and he eventually sets out to have him all to herself, pushing her limits and the limits of humiliation. But still she goes back, something inside her had been awoken and after a few trips to fetish clubs around London with or without her friend Charlotte, it looks like the flames that Dominik lit are far from burning out.

Things seem to be going well for a while, she agrees to his ever command and whim, until her friend Charlotte's fetish party. She brings Dominik along and after Charlotte takes a fancy to him, Summer beds another to get back at him for not putting a stop to her advances.

Ending in an argument she decides to give him space and go to work in New York with a orchestra. In New York she meets Victor, one of Dominik's friends from back home in London but unknown to her, and he slowly but surely try's to groom Summer into the life of slavery, one which she doesn't like but her body and urges betray her. Anyway to cut a long story short, she has enough, and Dominik having heard from a friend of Summers, travels to New York. They spend a few days together and he leaves to go home, neither one of them able to leave their jobs just yet.

This book had its good points and bad points. I think what I hated the most was the repetitiveness of the language. I don't like some of the words that was constantly used. Like Cunt. I know its suppose to be a book about sex and what not but I just thought there was no need to use that way every time she was talking about her vagina. It just really bugged me.

I think the characters were well developed, a tad more could have been done with Victor and Charlotte. The story line was good and I liked the idea behind the book. This book just bugged me I guess ( )
