A very enjoyable foray it is too. The vampires are well writen and it has that roleplaying feel to it, that Dragonlance originally managed, but many others fail to do. After re-read For fans of White Wolf's WoD games (including the PC game Vampire the Masquerade) this is a must read. Strictly cannon in terms of the vampires abilities and powers it well imagines how their society works and integrates with the human's (kine cf cattle) arround them. Elliot Sinclair is a Toreador Primogen (Leutenant) but since unexplained the death of his companion many years back he has remained reclusive in the Sarasota's Kindred community. However he attends a play starring the regions Prince Roger Phillips and is dismayed to find that the Prince has succombed to an unusual form of madness - Kindred not often getting ill. Elliot is partly cajoled into taking temporary charge and realises that a full campaign has been launched against his clan. The alternative POV is a young cataif (clanless) vampire called Dan Murdoch, surviving on the dregs of the same area of town. He meets a mysterious women who promises him special powers as a result of his investigating some suspicious characters. The two plots interweave and vampire politics come into play, until the sudden and dramatic conclusion. I particularly enjoy the moral casting of the vampires - how they interact and feel about he humans they need to survive, which is as varied as any real fiction. The action is fast pacedthe characters likable and belivable with surprising depth for the genre. Vampire fans should read it, others it's a better than average introduction in White Wolf's world, but not necessarily typical of urban fantasy. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This is a story about how Jyhad works at all levels of the vampire society. It was a pretty good book. It's mainly about Elliott Sinclair a Toreador vampire who steps in to fill a vacuum of power when the Prince is incapacitated. He tries to keep things from getting out of hand while 2 very ancient and powerful vampires (mostly unseen and unknown) are pulling strings and orchastrating things to their liking. The little folk quit often get ground up between beings of that power. ( )
