( ) I enjoy this werewolf series a lot. In fact, it might be my favorite. I am curious to find out what Jessica is. Jessica is so bad ass and she is working super hard to understand her new found abilities and rescue her mate. I love seeing her working so hard to make all the supernatural and human species work together. This book is really non-stop action and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen. Once again I'm rating this book lower because of typos. They're the careless kind, as if someone has typed "I'm a new person" and wanted to change it to "I'm new" but didn't carefully proof and was left with the phrase "I'm a new." These are the things that could and should be caught by a copyeditor. It saddens me these typos are in the book because they distract from what is otherwise an entertaining story with great characters. There's no downtime between the previous book and this one. We're rushed right into Jessica's quest to rescue her mate from the sorceress who has kidnapped him. Yes, she has a mate. For those of you who dig that sort of thing, here it is. For those of you who like things to be more subtle, it's that, too, because even though Jessica and her wolf think "mate mate mate mine mate" they still pause to consider everything else in the world, too. Basically, I am really enjoying how these books deal with romance and sex and keep things balanced and without any sort of societal baggage being hung on them. The character of the sorceress is absolutely over the top and I think she's supposed to be. I'm pretty sure that the readers are supposed to read about her long flowing red hair and her corset and laugh as the author skewers that stereotype. At least I laughed. I'm also really enjoying the band of friends and allies Jessica is accumulating. Found family is a trope that hits me where I live so I'm looking forward to more. Just, please, please, edit better! (Provided by publisher) The old adage of 'it doesn't rain but pours' holds true for Jessica McClain. Hot Blooded takes you on a fast action adventure, where the main character doesn't fully grasp of what's in play. We also get told that there is a prophecy is in play around Jessica and the very little we do know, we find out more when Jessica does. It was good, just not as good as book 1. I think it was cos of the storyline. They spent it looking for Roarke most of the time and well...even if things happened, not so much happened. I guess I wanted another kind scenery. But Jessica is still cool and kick-ass. Though I must say that with all these new powers she is in danger of going very Mary Sue. But I do wonder about the prophecy. We did not see her mate a lot :/ Her brother and Danny are nice. I might even like Roy soon. Naomi was cool too. The evil goddess was evil, just a bit cliche'. Get over it woman. Good is good, I just hope book 3 is back to being book 1 good. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
