Discovering her many children's illustrated books is a sheer joy. Little Whistle appears to be aimed toward very young children. The guinea pig lives in a toy store, sleeps during the day and at night awakens to marvelous journeys. I love both the visual images and the painting of words that together make a very cute story. Little Whistle rides the train through out the store because it is too large to walk. A wooden sailor toy gave him a blue pea coat, which he now proudly wears. He observes the dolls and their tea parties, The stuffed lion who loves vanilla cookies and the rabbit who always wants to run. The images were delightful and cute is the word I would use for this book. It is a bundle of cuteness. A delightful picture book counterpart to the wonderful stories where toys come to life. Little Whistle is a guinea pig who lives in a toy shop. He sleeps during the day and plays with his toy friends at night. When Little Whistle gets cold, a toy soldier gives him his pea coat to keep warm. The first of the Little Whistle series. Curriculum: this book would be an good mentor text for creative writing projects with primary students -- imagine what your toys might do at night when you're sleeping, or what might happen in the classroom (or library) when no one is there. Rylant, C. & Bowers, T. (2000). Little Whistle. San Diego: Harcourt Children's Books. This book is about a mouse that lives in a toy store and he gets out of his cage every night when the store closes to play. "Little Whistle" has several books that deal with different topics such as medicine, etc. This book doesn't really have a specific purpose in the classroom except for as a fun read. I think students would enjoy it because it is about a toy store and toys coming to life each night. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
