Tara is the heartland of Ireland's Celtic past. It is the site of St Patrick's confrontation with the druids and seat of the High Kings. Daniel O'Connell, The Liberator, relied on its power in the 19th century to draw a record attendance to a Home Rule meeting. Today over 30,000 people visit Tara each year.
