At the end of the 15th century, English politics were dark and depressing. War, rebellion, and the arrival of the pretenders to the throne. It’s all here and brought to vivid life in a story I found immensely readable. There’s the dark and the light, with execution, death, murder and misery. But also humour, adventure, love and romance. Not much missing really. Definitely a book I sat reading until I fell asleep sitting up. This is a lot more than your average historical blockbuster, and it really pulled me in. ( )

Raunchy, violent, fast moving, this story zings along. Set shortly after the War of the Roses, there is political intrigue galore, complete with Plantagenet princes, treason, hangings, murder, beheading, mayhem aplenty. A good rollicking read, long book at 500+ pages, but well written and great reading. ( )
