Unfortunately, he is found at the bottom of a hill and is in a coma. There is a suspect, but Becca is not sure that he was the culprit. This is a series. ( ) Hannah Armstrong, alias Becca King, is sent to Whidbey Island by her mother to protect her from her step-father. Hannah/Becca has a paranormal power where she hears whispers from the people around her and needs to wear an AUD box to run interference so she can concentrate. She heard her step-father's whisper that he had murdered his business partner in San Diego. Her mother, Laurel Alexander, and Hannah/Becca flee north to Washington State and the mother went on to British Columbia. Unfortunately, the person Hannah/Becca is to stay with has died just before she arrived which placed Hannah/Becca, a 14-year-old, on an island by herself. She is befriended by Seth Darrow, an 18-year-old high school drop out, and then by Debbie Grieder, the owner/manager of the Cliff Motel, who is a recovering alcoholic raising her two grandchildren since their father, Sean, is in jail on drug charges. Hannah/Becca manages to go to high school where she is taken under the wing of Derric, a young man adopted from Uganda when he was 8 years old where she is put into conflict with Jenn and a certain extent with Haley.
