Pleasingly illustrated, narrative of Galileo's life, told in first person, from his youth to his old age. Book focuses on his physics experiments, the adaption of the telescope & development of the microscope, and his discoveries in astronomy. Back matter includes a science-related timeline and Galileo's experiments, inventions/improvements, discoveries, and a glossary.

This book tells about the life of Galileo, an Italian astronomer This book provides insight into his life and everything students should know and learn. This would be good for grades 3-5 when teaching about scientist, science, astronomy. You could also use this book with a thematic unit. ( )

This is a biography of Galileo and his life. It also has great factual information that students should know and learn. This would be a great book for 3rd grade science when they start to learn about scientist. Also a good writing assessment to write a auto-biography about their life so far. ( )

This book is great a great way for third grade students to learn about Galileo and his life accomplishments. This story is told in first person, so they students can get a idea of how things from his perspective. The bright illustrations bring the book to life, as the students gain factual knowledge of all the inventions and accomplishments of Galileo. Students can also be involved in a discussion of higher order thinking questions such as, "Which one of Galileo's inventions was the most important and why", or Did you think Galileo had a good life? What challenges did he encounter" Etc. These questions can be written on the board along with a few others and students can pick one or two to write about on their own paper. Overall I rate this book as excellent as it is informational, engaging, easy to follow and understand. ( )
