Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Nightingale Way is a book about hope, redemption, and reconciliation. It is romantic, optimistic, and enjoyable to read. It was a bit sappy at times, and it certainly would not appeal to most men. However, I read it through in one afternoon and found that I had a smile on my face at the end. Sometimes that's all you want in a book; a feel-good story. "Friends can be beams of sunshine if only you'll let them" (p. 111).In accordance with FTC guidelines, please note that I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review via LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Nightingale Way by Emily March ISBN: 9780345528780 Catherine, Cat had just been drugged and kidnapped. She had written a story for the local paper about dogfighting going on and now the mob was tied to it and other high key figures. They had torched her house already. Her ex, jack Davenport had taken her and was flying her to his house, as per her mothers orders, Melinda Blackburn for safe keeping, she fears. The past is brought up as other things trigger them. After heated topics she has had enough and tells him she's leaving his house, but will remain in the area. She headed to a cottage on the property of the B&B. Very serene: creek, bikes to ride, gardens, birds and the view of the mountains and she knows how to photograph. When Jack has an emergency and is bandaged up they talk her into watching out for him. His cottage will be close by to hers. She also takes a free job at the paper to just keep busy. He fills in some missing pieces of his life, the Bade foundation. Love this town and the talk of the shops available: coffee shop, quilt shop, sandwich shop, restaurants, B&B, hot springs, etc. When she fills in for the editor they start hanging around together again, she the reporter and he the accompanying photographer as she writes stories for the paper. She uncovers more scandals and sits on the information she's learned for a bit... Angel's Rest is a very nice area to heal, the angels are out in force.. Although there are a lot of people in this book they are very easy to follow and keep separate as to who they are and in relationships with others. While they are at the art gallery the owner goes into labor and that sets them up to talk about their own pregnancy... time to heal for both of them. Wedding events and births and traveling and adventure keep them all busy for some time...til family matters arise and work problems that need instant attention... Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. After receiving this book for review, I went out and bought the first few books of this series. Having read Emily March as Geralyn Dawson, I knew I couldn't go wrong. I sure am glad I did! I love the characters and the books just keep getting better and better! Keep 'em coming! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Another freebie I won from Early Reviewers. Let me just set the record straight. I am not a romance novel fan by any means. However, since I haven't read one in a long time, I figured it give it a shot. I'm still not a romance novel fan.The premise of this book is a married couple loses a baby and winds up getting a divorce. When our lead heroine, Cat, decides to expose celebrities and politicians with dogfighting, she gets a death threat. Jack wants Cat back in his life but he just keeps screwing it up and when she leaves his protection and his home he ends up in an accident that end with her having to care for him and giving him a chance to woo her and her a chance to help him with his depression. When her parents show up and her mom send him on a new mission and a promotion when he returns, Cat decides enough is enough and she leaves so he can do the job he loved more than he loved her. When he realizes what she has done he realizes that he loves her more than the job and he can be a hero and her man but how will he convince her.
I have to tell you that chapter 13 is the best chapter in the whole book and it would be well worth your time and money just to buy the book for that one chapter. Other than that the book is just ok and it wasn’t even on my reading list, I was just looking for books to add to my TBR list but given where I am in my life this book really spoke to me. To be honest I was not going to finish this book and put it in my ‘could not get into’ page, but then I suddenly connected with Cat when she went to visit her daughter’s grave and I get why since I visit my daughter’s memorial every chance I get (this part is hard and makes little sense and I am sorry). The author did an amazing job of portraying Cat’s pain and its intensity and I want to thank her for that and for that reason I an giving this book a 3 star rating because even though it was well written and I could connect with the main character and I thought chapter 13 rocked I still felt it was just an ok book and not one I would ever read again.
