Having witnessed the opening of the gates of hell, and almost falling through, Violet is now dealing with the aftermath of that event, namely the return of her mother. But in this she is not alone, her father is also getting used to her mothers return, taking it a lot better then she is, and is also learning about her Grigori status. But to become a full Grigori Violet must travel to New York where's she will be tested, assessed and if successful accepted as one of their own.

Meanwhile Lilith has plans of her own for Violet and her mother, the woman responsible for sending her to hell in the first place. With the lives of innocents held in the balance Violet can hardly refuse Lilith’s wishes and with her mother watching on, she will suffer as she has never suffered before. But she will not suffer alone; turning what was an act of love into a strategic move against an inevitable attack from the enemy that will have dire consequences for them all.

Endless was how Violet and Lincoln had described their love for each other, beautiful, impossible, painful and endless. But Violet and Lincoln are learning the hard way that sometimes love is not enough. After having faced countless exiles, witnessing the gates of hell open and suffered at Lilith’s hands, in the end will they be torn apart by their own love for each other? A page turning romance that improves with every new chapter. ( )

Such an array of emotions!

How will I ever get over them?

This book had me smiling, even a few giggles here and there...Even bigger grins at some parts of the books. And then...it happened...

What happened you might ask? I can't tell you!

Well, I could, but I don't want to give away spoilers.

Throughout the book, I just felt...like....

And then some!

Never, in my history of reading, has a book made me feel the way this book has. Yes, there have been other books that have touched me and made me feel things emotionally that were draining in a way..but never like this....

I struggled through Emblaze and almost gave up completely. But I decided to trudge though it and finish it...

Oh, how glad I am that I did!!

If I had given up on this series, I would have missed this wonderfully heartbreaking, roller coaster ride of emotions!

When I read Emblaze, I just had a feeling of, ugh, I really dont want to read this, and, it seems like she really didn't want to write this story[Emblaze]..Then recently, I read some where that she did struggle to write it...And it almost didn't get finished (I do believe it was Emblaze, if I am wrong, I will try to come back and correct it)

Moving On:

If you are reading this series, and you're about to embark on this roller coaster, well..expect to have to hold on tight...It will take you for some serious loops!

This book has me not sure if I can even complete my reading challenge this year and have to just take it down a few notches! lol..And I havent felt this way since, well, another series I read a while back ago that I wont mention, but it was for two different reasons! :-)

2 endlessly boring stars for me!
It started with a

and that was really all I took from the book.. The characters were flat the story was overplayed. Maybe I never reached the climax with this book. I could never Connect and I was bored. I wanted to be finished with the book just so I didn't have to read it anymore. What I found out was the ending was no better than the beginning or the middle and never could get me into the book. I thought Jenny was annoying, paranoid, and just plain strange (that was the point of the book I know). The reason it was not a one star read is because I liked the writing style and the author did a good job telling an extremely boring story.

Even though I got Endless several months ago and it just sat on my Kindle, waiting to be read, I was actually pretty excited to get into it. I mean, look at the summary! Jenny can see people's past lives. She meets a new guy and they have the SAME DREAM about Romanov Russia. There's some kind of ominous "Order" after her AND it has time travel. What's not to like?

...a lot of things, it turns out.

For one, the characters are inconsistent. Is Jenny a loner, or does she make friends easily? Because she's described as a loner, but she seems to befriend everybody she meets. Is Ben a jerk, is he a nice guy, is he a violent person, is he really sensitive... what is he? He seems to morph into whatever character is needed at the moment. Nikolai is simultaneously painted as a sort of weird, creepy guy who just shows up randomly in Jenny's life, and her main love interest who is all sorts of awesome. Which is he? He can't be both!

Also, I couldn't get into the relationship between Jenny and Nikolai. It felt so forced to me. The author spends the first, what, third of the book building up a relationship between Ben and Jenny, only to tear it down immediately with the entrance of Nikolai. Nikolai, who is much older than Jenny, and honestly it's pretty creepy that he'd pursue her. Even if they are "soul mates" and have traveled through time to be together. I didn't understand why Jenny felt such a strong connection to Nikolai, either. Just because they knew each other in a past life doesn't mean they'd still be connected in new lives. Maybe if Jenny had time traveled too, then I'd understand it. It just didn't make sense to me.

The writing was childish. I felt like it was written for maybe middle school level. Everything is spelled out. There are no surprises. Plot points are created and never finished. (Where is the book? What happened to the music box? Can Ben and his mom be happy now? Can Jenny really trust Morgan?) The book felt like a watered down version of real fantasy. At least it was a quick read.

And finally, what's with Jenny's "power"? Why give a character the power to see people's past lives if she's never going to use it? She might as well have been able to teleport, or be immortal, or read minds for all the good her power did for the plot.

Overall, if you like time travel, if you like the idea of soul mates, if you like Romanov Russia, there might be something here for you. If you like your books well-written and well-developed, steer clear.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. ( )
