Back in 2011 during its New 52 phase DC relaunched it’s DC Comics Presents title as an anthology series in which to reboot some of the lesser known DC heroes. This volume collects the first two story arcs focused on Deadman and The Challengers of the Unknown. The Deadman story presents an interesting look at the ramifications of him possessing the bodies of those he is meant to help, and the conflict he faces with the diety that set him on his mission. Unfortunately the second story focused on one of my favorite non-super teams of adventurers, The Challengers, is a let down, and a waste of a great premise. The characters are weak, the plot boring and predictable, and I found the idea of turning the team into a bunch of reality TV performers to be an insult to the original concept. ( ) I really like the idea of this DC Universe Presents title. It just has a chunk of issues for a certain character, every volume. So this time around, Deadman was the first one up and I liked his part a lot. Even though I'm pretty familiar with the Boston Brand story, and this wasn't much new in that category, but it was still pretty cool that the obscure characters are getting their own sort of royal treatment. The Challengers of the Unknown was kind of cool, but in the end it would have been better served with more time. Interested to see who DC Universe Presents tackles next. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
