In the sixth book of Janette Oke's Love Come Softly series Clark and Marty are reunited with their daughters and their hope and faith are tested when all three fall for the same nice fellow. Sixth in this series about Marty and Clark and their various offspring. In this book, which takes place several years after the fifth one, Belinda is a young teenager full of compassion. Belinda's niece Melissa, who is about the same age, comes to stay; they have very different temperaments. Gentle historical fiction with a low-key Christian message underlying it, this is an enjoyable light read that is surprisingly moving in places. While the author still has the annoying habit of shifting the narrative’s perspective helter skelter, I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one in the series. Granted, it’s still not high brow literature, but it was an enjoyable light read. There are some editorial mistakes along the way (mostly minor grammatical things, but at the opening of the book Belinda is 11 and two chapters later she is nearly 13), but overall this doesn’t take much away since, as I mentioned, you wouldn’t be reading this for its literary greatness. The book opens up about 11 years after the previous book ended. Family joys and trials are recorded as in the previous book, but I think this time we get a better sense of the day-to-day life, which I actually find more interesting since this is a historically based novel. You also get a better sense in this novel about each family member’s personality traits and how they all relate to one another. Of course, Oke can’t help but throw some romance plot into the story, which is slightly ridiculously when you consider that the oldest of the girls she is trying to pull into a relationship is only 14. The religious element is much better handled in this book than the previous one, as it is only used as it actually relates to the plot. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Belinda, Marty and Clark Davis's "surprise child," has always had a tender and compassionate heart toward anything hurt and broken. Her parents watch with both misgivings and genuine pride as Belinda's older brother, Doctor Luke, influences her toward nursing. Will she have the inward strength to face the "hurt and broken" people whose bodies, minds, and emotions need mending? Belinda's niece, who is also a teenager, comes to live with the Davis family to finish her schooling. How will Melissa's arrival affect Belinda's lifelong friendship with Amy Jo? And what happens when all three fall for the same nice fellow? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
