This book introduces the vocabulary of gravity, lever, fulcrum, force, load, leverage, friction, axels, lubrication, bearing, and pulleys. It encourages students to look around the world to discover many more examples of levers, wheels, and pulleys. I loved reading through this book because it gives a new perspective on what simple machines are and how they are used in our day to day life. This book would be great as a read aloud to students to get them thinking about simple machines and then allow them to engineer together a simple machine for themselves. This could be used throughout the lesson of simple machines to just with all the examples throughout the book and all of the vocabulary as well! ( ) Media: Color Pencils Grade Level: elementary and primary Review: In this book, we follow two kids who are curious and have questions such as; How do you lift a lion? Then after asking questions like these, the two kids find solutions and ways to use tools in order to properly address these issues and fix them to the best of their ability! The kids use pulleys and fulcrums and other tools to make things more efficient. It was a good informational book because it addressed many issues which can be complex and explains them in a simple way for them to grasp the concepts well. Summary: this book is about a little boy and a girl exploring the powers of simple machines and their various uses. To do this they use a lever to lift a lion, wheels to pull a panda, and pullies to lift a heavy basket, all of which is described simply for the child to understand while reading. Critique: this book makes a good fantasy by using their imagination of animals such as lions being friendly enough for childrent to weigh them, while at the same time teaching children basic engineering. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
