Not familiar with any of these characters, but I liked them and this first volume. The in-fighting was getting a little old by the end, but then there was a deep scene with a dying girl that was really cool. I'm left wondering if this "outbreak" will leak into other comics. I know "The Culling" has Teen Titans in it but maybe they solve it before it spreads. ( )

I'm not a fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes. I've tried. Pretty much suffers from the same problems as plague the Green Lantern Corps books and in the Marvel universe, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Fantastic Four off-world books. There are not enough common references to my experiencces to overlook the bad storytelling and crappy characters. Comic book space operas could be great, but the big two try to apply the superhero genre to the space opera and have yet to give me anything I like, or will even tolerate long enough to make it to crossovers or events that involve books that I do like. THat being said, this book was okay. WHy? It takes place in modern times, on Earth with a handfull of LSH characters.
This book is likely as close as I am ever going to get to an epidemiological thriller in DC universe. It's too bad that none of the characters are really treating it like one. They start off working with a scientific approach, but revert to the superhero tropes pretty quickly. Oh well, nice try.
I decided to read this because it is a part of the upcomicng (to me) event called 'The Culling' which will tie in with the Superboy and Teen Titan books. That, combined with knowing that there are only two books is enough to get me through a book that I probably wouldn't otherwise read. Don't get me wrong, this book is not horrible, just not my thing. It's a missed opportunity for DC to do something diffrent. ( )

Finding out that this leads into The Culling explains my dislike for the volume. ( )
