Kaye brand is a Fae who is outcast from her kind. Jack is of the Angelic Order tasked with preserving the order at all costs. With war inevitable between the Magekind and the Order, Kaye and Jack faceoff in an epic battle between their kind - but the danger and desire could ignite a change they never expected. ( )

Loved loved loved it!!

Once I started Fire Kissed I knew that I had to go back and read the Shadow Series by Erin Kellison before I got too far. So after I finished Shadow series (which I would recommend reading but not necessary) I started Fire Kissed and it did not disappoint. I loved it from beginning to end. Loved Kaye, she was strong independent person who did everything by her terms… well for the most part. She was such a great character can’t say enough how much I liked her. Jack absolutely loved him. Can’t say enough how much I liked the world that Erin creates. Very good! I will be waiting for the next book. I can’t wait to see who it is going to be ( )

With what the book was about, I wanted to like it. I really like the idea of mages, angels, and other fae creatures at war with one another.

But I had several big issues within the context of the novel. To me, the whole book came across as slightly detached or somewhat clinical in its present form.

I started this book # 4 within the Shadow series never having read another one of the Shadow books. I think this was most likely a mistake. While there are some explanations given, they are brief and retouch on what happened without any great detail as to how it correlates to the situation at hand.

The pacing seemed uneven in several parts of the book with me skimming the pages quite a bit and still being able to keep up with different plot threads.

Statements like she made him angry and he pissed her off do absolutely nothing for me if there's nothing to demonstrate what the character is doing with that particular emotion. In other words, SHOW me, don't tell me. And its for that reason that I feel like I wasn't right there with the characters, I was watching from afar. (If that makes any SENSE whatsoever lol) ( )

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

This is still one of my very favorite Urban Fantasy series, even if this is a spin-off - Book #4 in the Shadow world, book #1 of the Shadowkissed series.

While I liked the books of the 'original' series a bit better, this was still dark, beautifully written, and intriguing from beginning to end. I stand by my initial comments after completing Shadow Bound (book #1 of the Shadow series) - Erin writes with poetic prose that is utterly captivating...

Our characters: Kaye Brand is a mage with some trauma in her background. Jack Bastian is an angel with a bit of an attitude. While angels and shadows don't generally mix, Jack's current assignment pairs him up with Kaye in an attempt to gather some information for the Order and rid the world of the growing Wraith problem. In doing so, they are forced to work together - the smoldering attraction is an interesting side effect. :)

While I didn't jump up and down with love for Jack and Kaye like I did for the other pairs in the series, I still absolutely adore this world that Erin has built and I eagerly immerse myself in it every chance I get. I did love the twists that the story took (you're just going to have to read it to find out what I'm talking about!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the way that Erin ended the book as a segue to the coming installments and a HEA for Jack and Kaye.

I was also pleased to have a reappearance of Kahn and the other members of Segue. I had missed them so much and was so glad to be able to 'say hi' again. :)

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Fire Kissed 4 Skulls. I can't wait for the next novel from Erin! ( )

*full review: Betweenthebind.blogspot.com*

This is the first book I've read by Erin Kellison and it most definitely will not be my last. I am so excited to read her Shadow series (the prequel to the Shadow Kissed series) and explore the realm of Angels, Mages, and Fae more thoroughly.

Even without reading the previous books, I wasn't lost at all. I think that I was mostly just missing the background to the relationships of supporting characters in FK. Well, that and I wasn't quite sure what Shadow was at first - but it was thoroughly explained throughout the book for us newbies.

Ms. Kellison's editing is flawless. Her ability to create evil is so delicate...I just can't explain it better than that. Even when he wasn't in a scene, Ferrol Grey hovered in between the lines of the pages, watching, waiting, and giving me the heebies. Grey's evilness was innate and viewed by readers in the first chapter of FK, yet he rocks the scale with his endearing qualities and the ability to hide said evilness even from us (for a while).

Our heroine, Kaye, is beautiful, lost and head-strong - even through the death of her family, running in solitude for 10 years to keep away from Grey and then finally falling in love with the enemy...chick just can't catch a break! But watching her heal and grow was incredibly paced and captivating.

Bastian, a/an 1100 year-old angel from The Order, is more than just human perfection and light. And I love that he isn't all angelic - B's got some sass! He also lets some of the darkness in and although that sounds like a bad thing, it really isn't. I think it's simply stepping outside after being in a bubble for years and years. Some dark can make the light that much lighter.

Thoughout this book, Kaye goes undercover into her childhood enemy's lair, allowing her courage to guide her through the slippery black oil of Grey House. Well, her courage and obvious love for Bastian.

I really fell in love with so many characters in this book and hope to see them in the next installments. I followed along with the mage-politics and version of our world and understood the conflict between races. I couldn't keep my hands off of this book and can't WAIT until book two in the Shadow Kissed series is released! ( )
