Per se I like crossgenre when it is well done [which is seldom] and only sometimes like pulp. This is both but does such a good job that it got past my prejudices. I bought this book for the Forbeck story [excellent as usual] but enjoyed the entire collection enough to start considering sampling the other authors other works. I wish they had done a companion world book so I could better grok the universe but hopefully that is coming in the future. If you liked either the recent Cowboys and Aliens or the old Eastwood spaghetti Westerns you will love this book. Well worth the price. ( )
This is a set of short stories set in the Far West universe, which is a transmedia setting with a fiction and RPG line in the works. It is a Spaghetti Western meets Wuxia meets steampunk setting, which means you get stories full of six-guns, swords, bionic arms, acrobatic stunts, saloon fights, sheriffs, Marshals, airships and the like all jumbled up. The first and last stories are the best of the bunch in my opinion. ( )
