Life sucks for orphans Callum Tate and Harper Bailey. Kicked out of their foster homes because they suffer the 'eighteen disease' with nothing but a hundred dollar check from the government and a pat on the back, they're forced to rely on a system that failed them miserably. So they sit. They sit inside Social Services, waiting for their social workers to call their names and offer them the miracle they know will never come but they sit anyway because they have nowhere else to go, no other options on their very literal and figurative empty plates. But as they sit, they notice the other. Although captivated, they each come to the conclusion that life is complicated enough without throwing in a boiling tension that can't ever be acted upon because they're both too busy thinking about where their next meal will come from but when their names are called and both are placed on a year long waiting list for permanent housing, suddenly relying on each other seems like a very viable plan B. And, oh, how lovely Plan B's can be. Well, except for the psycho from Harper's past that haunts her and, oh, yeah, there's the little issue that neither of them knows they're in love with the other. Needless to say, Callum & Harper's life just got a bit more complicated. “One day, you and I are gonna’ wake up and be alright. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day. One day. I promise you.” - Callum Tate… (plus d'informations)

Rating 3.5 stars
I'm sorry for the relatively low rating but, while I liked this book just fine, I wasn't captivated by it.

Callum and Harper were very sweet together, I liked their interactions and how comfortable they were with each other but, exactly for those reasons, after a while, I found them quite frustrating.
I'm the first to disapprove of instant-love's stories but the opposite could be annoying too: how could they stay together for so long without expressing their feelings? or, better yet, how could they not know how the other felt?! The love was so palpable...I just didn't get that misunderstanding at all!! ( )

I remembered looking down into her face, her eyes bright with new adventure and a little piece of my heart fell into her hands. My heart tumbled in pieces at her feet as she chipped away at it with her wondrous ways, and it didn’t form a whole again until half a year had passed and the end product was a living, beating organ in the palm of her hands.
I imagine my heart should have been breaking when I was reading this, but it was too full of hope and of good cheer to really move me. It did have several intense, fairly tragic seconds that fetched tears to my eyes, but it didn’t make me ache as much as I wanted to.
“One day, you and I are gonna’ wake up and be alright. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day. One day. I promise you.”
I wanted the edgy prose of Courtney Summer, but I got . . . fluff. I get why Fisher Amelie did it. Life sucks for orphans Callum Tate and Harper Bailey, and they needed to dream. But I was still absurdly disappointed.

Their story was very sweet, though. Cute, adorable even. It made me laugh.
His teeth were white and perfect and, dang, if I hadn’t just heard a bell tinkle as the sun shone off them like a mirror.
It got really heartbreaking as it neared the climax, but in the end, it just wasn't what I was looking for. But three stars because surprisingly, it did make me cry.

"My name is Callum Tate and I m going to take care of you, Harper Bailey.”

And boy, does he ever make good on his words.

I loved Callum & Harper. The story is heartfelt, at times heartbreaking, and leaves you wanting more even though it has a pretty satisfying ending.

I loved the way it was written, the pace is perfect and you are never once bored.

Callum is such a good guy. In one word, he is capable. You have this feeling that whatever he sets out to do, he will do it. I loved the way he took care of Harper and kept an optimistic front for her sake at all times, even when things weren't looking that good.
I had no doubt that Harper would eventually be able to take care of herself but I was glad she had Callum.
Their relationship was heartbreaking. JUST TALK.

The villain of the story is detestable and creepy, and I was constantly scared for both of them.

I'm going to read Thomas & January, too. I can only hope it's as good as this is. I'm officially a Fisher Amelie fan! ( )

Callum & Harper was an interesting read, to say the least. I've wanted to try it out for ages now. I adored the cover and the Kindle sample really had me hooked and eager for more. Callum and Harper's story really did end up grabbing me from the moment I met them until the moment I finished the last page. While I wouldn't say it was a perfect novel or that it would be everyone's kind of thing, I personally enjoyed it and I'm so glad I took the time out to read it. It was definitely unique and will stand out in my mind for a long time.

This novel revolves around two orphans, Callum and Harper. They've both been thrown out of their foster homes for no reason other than they've turned 18. Callum and Harper find common ground because of this and start to take care of each since they're now both homeless. At first, I was worried because it seemed like some major insta-love was in store but I was wrong! They fall for each other quickly but their journey is slow, bumpy and full of misunderstandings. This is no sweet, predictable love story. It is so much more than that.

For a while, Callum & Harper felt like a regular contemporary romance novel, albeit with some heavier themes than usual. However, the first half of the book has a totally different feel to the second half. It takes such a big turn in mood and tone. At parts of it, I actually felt like I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds or something. It gets really creepy and terrifying and a few bits were actually hard to read! It was way more intense and scary than I was expecting it to be and is certainly not all about romance at all!

My only issue was with the unpolished writing. The first half contained some typing errors and a wrong name was used once. The actual writing itself was gorgeous though and I loved how all the characters spoke and interacted. All of Callum's friends are very different people but they all love and look out for each other. Harper fits in really well with all of them. Harper and Callum make some crazy decisions but I can see why they made them. They are struggling to get by and are just trying their best to secure a future for themselves. Overall, I really liked this book and will be rushing to buy anything else Fisher Amelie publishes! ( )

This is one helluva story. This LOVE right here is what life is about. It's about taking leap of faith and being patient. It's about standing by one another in a loyal friendship, never letting the other fall down. And when they do, you take turns holding each other up. THAT is LOVE!

So why did Callum & Harper hooked me to the core? Because it's REAL! Let me tell you that their life is NOT painted pretty. The struggle with what meal will they eat next? Where will they sleep? How to finish their education? Their kids for crying out load, forced to grow up in a cruel place with no example of what love or family would be like! You know what? They excelled far and beyond, creating better lives for themselves and succeeding with very little help. They learn to love despite the crappy hand the world dealt them, and became better people. That's why I fell in love.

Not only was the plot rocking, but their LOVE conquered all things. They faced things TOGETHER!
Say it with me...T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R.
Cause that's how couples worked. Together the worked, encouraged, and love each other deeply. And when one backed down cause of fear, the other didn't push. But instead, both of them took a step back, loving each other from afar, giving the space they wanted. Their love is romantic, patient, kind, not boastful, not jealous. They did no wrong to each other and went beyond friendship. I can't express how much I LOVED this book.

Callum & Harper is TRUE love story. Significant in details with great world building, Callum & Harper defy all laws that goes against them. A well balanced, riveting story that has a harsh reality and a sublime ending, this is what we live for. A love worth waiting for! ( )
