Holy CRAP! That ending. I was getting all anxietied waiting for Amazon to load so I could immediately download the next book.

These characters are seriously flawed. But, I can't help loving them and being totally addicted to this series!

Plus, Pippa? What the frogs???? Must know. Must read. Must read FASTER!!!

However, it drove me NUTS that the author kept calling it a "mental institute" in stead of mental institution, or mental hospital, hell, asylum...anything. It was just weird. And, the editing in these books is absolutely craptastic! Gah! They'll never get 5 stars, I can't make myself give 5 stars to shoddy finish editing. But, I'll keep giving 'em my money. Oh yes! ( )

This was the book where I finally figured out why I enjoy these books and continue reading them. Perry's narrating voice is very casual, and as a result the random things she goes through make more sense. What I mean is, there are a lot of small things in these books that have nothing to really do with the overall plot. Hell, there are even major plot issues that aren't fully or partially explained. But because all of this is just happening to and around Perry, the casual way the story can meander works. Life is like that, you don't always get the full story on things that happen to you, or the people in your life. You don't always understand experiences you are involved in, but that's ok because it's just life. That is the flow style of these books. And it SO works. Normally these are things I would rant about, but... I just can't.

Liked Dex more in this book. I guess I can see how conflicted he is, but I also feel like his character is not the same one that we met in the first book. He is a lot mellower now and I am not sure if that is an intentional character arc or an attempt on the authors side to make him more palatable. His actions at the end made total sense to me, and Perry's reaction to what he did made sense as well. Pride and Fear... I really appreciated that while Jenn was not written as a character we particularly like (to put it mildly), she also isn't portrayed as an absolute, raving, slut bitch. Seen that way too many times in novels... She was a person with her own problems, and she even had some sweet moments with Dex, but it didn't make up for her underhandedness and treatment of the people around her. It just made her a more relatable character, if not exactly likable.

I still say that Perry needs to get a life outside of Dex and EiT. But it is also amazing to see how she has changed her attitude from the first book to now. Both about herself as a person to how people perceive her. It makes me feel so good for her that I want her to use this new found self-worth and go create a life (and get out of her parents damn house). But I know that's not going to happen. It does speak to how much I like about her character now, though, that I want a fictional person to do well for themselves, ha.

TLDR: This book had little to do with the EiT show, but it worked well that way. Life, ya know? It was also my favorite... Until I read book 5. ( )

DAMMIT DEX!!! The ending of this book floored me. FLOORED ME! I knew it was going to be bad.. I just knew.. but what the hell? How in the hell do you literally climb off someone one second- someone you've been pining for and wanting desperately- and then dismiss them with cold anger? Dex really is a fucking lunatic! It's official!!

Not that I don't still love him, because apparently I'm a lunatic too... because I want them to work it out. I want him to come around and realize his monumental fuck-up... but I also want Perry to make him suffer. Make him beg. MAKE HIM COME CLEAN FOR ONCE!

But Perry... man... I can't believe she switched his pills like that. What in the fuck was she thinking... well, we know what she was thinking, but what a dangerous and stupid thing to do. That whole thing could have went way, WAY worse... and he is going to flip ten kinds of shit when he finds out what she did.

I'm left with so many questions... as always. GAWD!!! This one put me through the ringer. And I thought I hated Jenn before, but what a nasty, hateful, snooty bitch!

Wow, this little rant wasn't much of a review, was it? Yeah, sorry.. I'm that traumatized right now. ( )

Finally I finished now I can take a breath. I'd been holding it for days it seems. Will these two nut jobs ever figure things out ? Will I ? I still don't know if they are really over the top crazy or if there are ghosties and demons ? *What a fantastic author- she hooked me deep and nothing is getting me free. I hate Dex and even Perry sometimes, they are so wrong that they have to be together. Right ? I strained my neck from shaking it so much in this edition to their screwed up tale.
The Office Christmas party from hell, the institution, the meds, the drinking, the dress, commando attire, the countertop....the brush off. Wackyville on steroids !
So what did I think f this book ? I don't have a clue. Love/hate and I want more ! ( )
