This book is based off a true story of a brave dog named Baltic that was recued in Grudziadz, Poland. There firefighters who had tried to rescue him but they failed because they didn't have the right equipement. Than there was this ship that was sailing and working, and they heard about the dog that was out on some frozen ice and no where to go. So the Research Vessel had the right equipment to rescue the dog.

I thought that this was a very cute book and a little bit sad because it had me thinking, how could this dog end up in the middle of the frozen river. ( )

A heartwarming story about the dog Baltic who was found and rescued. The illustrations enhanced the story and will draw young readers in.

This is a touching true story about a dog who was found on ice in the Vistula River. People can't tell what it is until it gets closer and they realize it's a dog. The dog is cold, hungry, wet, and lonely. The people that save the dog are a crew on a ship, and they try to pull dog up on a net, but the dog falls into the water and barely makes it back up on the ice. Eventually, one of the crew members goes on a smaller boat into the water to personally put the dog on the boat. They give him food and make him warm and the dog is very thankful. They name the dog Baltic after the Baltic Sea. ( )

This book I think teaches children about the love and care they should have for their animals. If the seamen, wouldn't have saved Baltic, he probably would have died. Animals have lives to live too and deserved to be loved by someone. Enjoyed the happy ending as well. ( )
