I guessed the ending, and Savannah told me I was right so I didn't bother finishing it. Good middle-grade book though! (DNF @ Page 137) ( ) 2.5 stars, rounded up. The development of the relationship between Gangsta Granny and grandson Ben is well done as Granny becomes a hero in Ben's eyes, and their caper is awfully fun, especially the surprise at the end. Ben's parents as a major disappointment in the novel: stereotypes, and who really watches ballroom dancing on TV? :-) I did not find this as good or funny as Walliams' other books which I have read, especially The Midnight Gang.

Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma's house. She's the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble, and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn't know about his grandma. 1) She was once an international jewel thief. 2) All her life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels, and now she needs Ben's help.
