I don't have kids; I am just a big kid at heart. When I saw this book at a country bookstore, the cover just attracted me. I felt sorry for the little book! I was compelled to bring home the little book, and find out if the book gets a little friend.

I found this book utterly charming. I appreciate that the love story began when the book was already starting to be in tatters. I loved how the child loved other books but still had a love for this old book. It had good lessons on what we should value and how it stays with us.

And it's a book about a book!

I saved this book for my future children. I do not know if they will appreciate it, but it will help with the lessons I want to teach. And, the poor suckers will have to occasionally sit through books I want to read. Muahahahah! ( )

I wish more librarians and volunteers would read this and know that some of us do still treasure the old, old-fashioned, torn & scuffed books... even if they're missing the last page!  *Please,* if you must cull, at least offer them at a special sale & (ideally) announce it in your newsletter!! ( )

The purpose of this book is for the reader to remember those certain books that have been forgotten but loved for a long time. This story was meant to be read as a read aloud to the class because it is touching but also relate-able. ( )

Oozing with excessive sentimentality but hard for a librarian and bibliophile to dislike this story. ( )

Then came a day that the book would remember forever. One morning, it found itself being carried upstairs and placed in the shade of a tree. The book enjoyed the fresh air. All day long people peered down at it with kind faces, and many chidlren picked it up and turned its pages./ Back in Alice's room, the book felt sublime in its always-and-forever home.
