Lee Goldberg shamelessly sprinkled product placement throughout the book. Poptarts, Oreos, and Fiji water, off the top of my head. I believe it even references a brand that doesn't exist, which is infinitely strange if you ask me.

Monk behaves like a 5-year-old. Anyone who has seen even one Monk episode would know that is not how Monk behaves in the slightest, and it is grating to read. And the plot was strange and uninteresting. And the cliffhanger from the last book? This one starts up as if there had never been a cliffhanger. And it keeps referencing previous books. It's like, you've written tons of books, big deal, you don't need to keep reminding us.

The ending was very schmaltzy. Ugh. ( )

The conclusion to the life-altering events for Adrian Monk and Natalie Teeger in the previous "Mr. Monk on Patrol", where both Monk and Natalie are offered positions as police officers in Summit, New Jersey by new Chief Randy Disher. This book finds both Monk and Natalie facing and overcoming new challenges as Natalie proves her chops as a detective and officer, and Monk faces a possible life without Natalie. The conclusion of the book feels like a conclusion to the series as both characters choose new paths in their lives. Loose ends are resolved and decisions made that would seem to preclude the possibility of further Monk books. But anything is possible, and I'd love to see the series continue as long as it builds upon the growth and change that permeates this book. Plus, I'd love to see some development with Trudy's daughter, whose existence Monk learned about in the series finale, but who has only made a brief appearance in any of the books thus far. ( )

**Obsessive. Compulsive. Detective.**
*An all-new original mystery starring Adrian Monk, the brilliant investigator who always knows when something's out of place....*

No one likes to come home to a mess--least of all Monk and Natalie. But when they return briefly to San Francisco from an extended stay working as cops in New Jersey, Natalie discovers somebody has been sleeping in her bed. But this Goldilocks is not asleep. She's dead.

If that's not bad enough, investigators find marked money from a Federal sting operation stuffed under Natalie's mattress. Now her life is a real mess and she needs Monk's help to clean it up.

But Monk has problems of his own. His brother Ambrose is desperate to find Yuki, his missing lover, but his agoraphobia prevents him from leaving the house. Ambrose needs a man on the outside--and that man is Monk, who is torn, because he's glad to see her go.

As the two investigations begin, and the body count rises, it quickly becomes clear to Monk that Yuki has a dangerous past...and that they are pursuing a ruthless, cold-blooded killer that nobody would ever want to mess with...

""No one else could capture these characters and bring them to life on the page the way Lee Goldberg does!"-- **King's River Life Magazine**

"Full of snippets of slapstick humor and Monk's special talents for observation," ***Library Journal***

"This latest hilariously funny and devilishly clever  novel about TV's obsessive-compulsive sleuth Adrian Monk is an impossible crime lover's delight! Very funny and inventively plotted," ***Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine***

"Throughout the Mr. Monk series author Lee Goldberg has always kept a firm grasp on exactly who his characters are, and he is able to expertly play them against one another to the best dramatic and comic advantage," ***The Gumshoe Review***

"You'd be hard-pressed to find another recent work that provides so many hip and humorous moments."*** Bookgasm***
