The conclusion to the life-altering events for Adrian Monk and Natalie Teeger in the previous "Mr. Monk on Patrol", where both Monk and Natalie are offered positions as police officers in Summit, New Jersey by new Chief Randy Disher. This book finds both Monk and Natalie facing and overcoming new challenges as Natalie proves her chops as a detective and officer, and Monk faces a possible life without Natalie. The conclusion of the book feels like a conclusion to the series as both characters choose new paths in their lives. Loose ends are resolved and decisions made that would seem to preclude the possibility of further Monk books. But anything is possible, and I'd love to see the series continue as long as it builds upon the growth and change that permeates this book. Plus, I'd love to see some development with Trudy's daughter, whose existence Monk learned about in the series finale, but who has only made a brief appearance in any of the books thus far. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Monk behaves like a 5-year-old. Anyone who has seen even one Monk episode would know that is not how Monk behaves in the slightest, and it is grating to read. And the plot was strange and uninteresting. And the cliffhanger from the last book? This one starts up as if there had never been a cliffhanger. And it keeps referencing previous books. It's like, you've written tons of books, big deal, you don't need to keep reminding us.
The ending was very schmaltzy. Ugh. ( )
