A really nice story with great characters. First they meet a few years earlier and even though Tristan was attracted to Jecca he felt she was too young and she was in puppy love with someone else. A few years later they meet in the dark and begin falling for the person they each are on the inside. Good family and friends surround the characters and help flesh out the story. A really good read. SERIES/STAND ALONE: #1 in Edilean Moonlight series

TIME/PLACE: Present/Edilean, VA
CHARACTERS: Jecca Layton/artist, Tristan Aldredge/doctor

FIRST LINES: " Dad," Jecca said to her father, Joe Layton, " I want to go to Virginia to see Kim. It's only for 2 weeks, & you can run the store w/o me."

COMMENTS: It's been quite awhile since I read Jude Deveraux and was pleasantly surprised at how much I did enjoy this novel. Jecca Layton is 26 and has a passion for creating art -- particularly paintings. She has not had luck in selling any but does work in an art gallery in NYC. When the gallery owner decides to close for the summer. Kim plans on spending the summer in the town her college roommate/friend lives -- Edilean, VA. This is a small town that is surrounded by a state park and not too far from Williamsburg. Jecca is sure she will find inspiration here and create marketable paintings. Kim is hoping that Jecca will meet up w/ her brother Reed who is returning for the summer. They met 7 yrs ago but the timing was off then. Tristan, a cousin of Kim has other plans. He remembers Jecca from her visit and this time wants to the chance to develop a relationship before Reed returns. Jecca, is certain she needs to live in a big city for her career and is not interested in forming attachments in a small town. A lovely romance ensues between Jecca & Tristan supported by many Edilean residents who have their own stories that I hope continue in future books. ( )

Artist Jecca Layton plans to spend the summer in tiny Edilean, VA to work on her paintings. She's a big city girl, and has no intention of staying.

Dr. Tristan Aldredge has other plans. He was captivated by Jecca from the first time he saw her as a teenager. He has no intention of letting her slip through his fingers, but can he convince her that small town life will be satisfying enough to make her want to stay?

Of course. It's a romance, after all. But getting to the HEA is a pleasant enough read. ( )
