Man's eternal quest for gold proves as enduring as it is fatal when forensic archaeologist Lindsay Chamberlain unearths a four-hundred-year-old mystery -- and a mondern-day murder. Vacationing in Tennessee, Lindsay studies the bones of a centuries-old corpse hiding a fascinating secret. She's also asked to look into the suspicious deaths of two adventurous cavers whose fatal foray into Hell's Slide spells murder for one family member. But bones don't lie, and before long, Lindsay knows she's digging up trouble. Someone wants the case to remain closed -- and the mounting threats tell her she's getting closer to the truth. But as murder old and new come together in shocking ways, Lindsay finds herself digging for her life -- to survive the clever trap of a killer.… (plus d'informations)

"Questionable Remains" is my favorite of the series, since it seamlessly blends a modern mystery with one hundreds of years old. The details are fascinating, and Lindsey Chamberlain is a protagonist to celebrate -- she's smart, resourceful, doesn't take any guff from anyone. ( )

This second book in the Lindsey Chamberlain series wasn't only a mystery but a whole lot of it was quite the thriller too.

The cave scenes were so very intense the first time I read it (and more impressively, the second time I read the book they were just as intense too).

Lindsey just wants to have her vacation and tour her friends' dig sites. But she gets caught up in the Lambert family drama (a missing family member who was found dead). And a man she gave testimony against escapes from prison. All in all, a typical Lindsey set of problems.

I will say that in some ways the story seems to be tied up a bit too well at the end with just slightly unrealistic coincidences, but this is fiction and it's really well written also. Most of the characters are so interesting and unique and Connor keeps the reader guessing for the answer to the mystery for quite a while. ( )

I've just begun reading the Lindsay Chamberlain series, and I really am enjoying it. There's a lot about archeology which has always been an interest of mine, and Ms. Connor has a very unique way of bringing back bygone times with the inserts that she spaces throughout the book. In this one we go back to the late 16 Century when the Spaniards were in the US trying to pass on their religion to the savages (as they called the Native American Indians), and also trying to take what wealth they could out of the country. Lindsay goes to a couple of digs and starts unearthing this 400 year old story, but she is also making enemies of her own about a modern-day mystery that is threatening her life. The book kept me guessing throughout, and the mystery was a good one. This is a very worthwhile series. ( )
