Her own marital bliss ended with the news that her husband had bigamist tendencies, Magdalena Yoder isn't pleased to learn that her sister's planning to tie the know - especially not since the other end of the rope is held by her nemesis the local police chief. But even a wedding has to take a back seat when her guests start disappearing. Lots of Spam (the tinned kind) in this one! This is the first book in this series that I've read. It was light, sweet, sort of funny. I'm still not sure whether I liked the main character or not. BUT I read it easily in a day and a half and I bought the next one in the series based on a good review I read on here. I liked the information about amish and mennonite culture. It is interesting that the author was born of missionary parents, lived in the Congo since she was 16yo and is now Jewish. I think her own story may be more fascinating than these books. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

In this seventh "Penn Dutch" murder mystery, rustic inn proprietor Magdalena Yoder finds herself in a pot of trouble again. The newly rebuilt Penn Dutch Inn hosts a gathering of World War II buddies who served in the Afrika Corps. In reality, though, the veterans are looking for their old commander, rumored to have slipped into the U.S. after the war, and to have taken the identity of an Amish man. Also staying over are a world famous concert pianist and her historian husband, who has a mission of his own in mind. When a dead body turns up, it looks like an old vendetta has been carried out, and it's up to Magdalena to stir the killer to the surface. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

After a tornado has destroyed the old house and barn at her bed and breakfast Magdalena has rebuilt the Penn-Dutch Inn and her latest guests are a group of WWII vets and their wives. Magdalena learns that her community has been the host of a war criminal as well as a WWII spy during this book.
This one also has Susannah getting married to the local police chief who also happens to be her sister's arch-nemesis in 15 yards of blue silk fabric. ( )
