( ) I really enjoyed this clean, cowboy romance. I bought this at a recent Library book sale and I voluntarily chose to review this. This is the first of the Heart of Texas Series and it sets the stage pretty well for this series of romances in a community that has a Ghost Town that seems to be part secret and part scary. I've given it a 5* rating. I've so been enjoying this series. There are lots of twists and turns and a bad character to keep stirring it up. Each story centers on a different character's romance. Onto the next. Loved the character Savannah who was able to just live her life even with a cranky brother Grady. Enjoyed her meeting and getting to know Laredo who maintained decent values while also being independent. Glad that there was humor in the story while showing town people caring for each other. Could not stand her brother Richard and how he could so manipulate Savannah - she lost my respect at that point. After going against her brother Grady’s wishes by going to the ghost town of Bitter End to find antique roses, Savannah Weston decided to stop for the lone cowboy she saw walking down the side of the road. He just wanted to get his truck fixed and get back on the road, Laredo Smith never planned on staying long I Promise Texas. Seeing the way Savannah cared for her brother, her animals, and her plants shouldn’t have changed his mind. Having protective feelings for her when it came to her plans to return to Bitter End then watching the way her brothers treated her, Laredo knew he had to do the right thing for her and for himself. Book 1 ….. Opening to the Promise Texas series. Lots of characters, lots of set up for the 2nd , 3rd and even 4th books. This is a re-read for me, but it has been to many years to remember. Found the book to be an easy read with a few great characters, and even more good ones. Plan to read the rest of the series in the weeks to come. HTML:Revisit Promise, Texas, in this classic western romance from a favorite author, #1 New York Times bestselling Debbie Macomber. Everyone in Promise thinks Savannah Weston is an old-fashioned kind of woman, quietly content to stay on the family ranch with her brother, Grady. But Savannah has her passions??for the old roses she loves to grow, for the children she hopes to have. And for a man named Laredo Smith. He's a stranger to the small town, a disenchanted drifting cowboy who may just change Savannah's life??in the best possible way.
