This book was ALMOST really excellent. It had diverse characters (including an interracial family as the narrators); it was non-sexist in its presentation of kids' interests and abilities; and it pointed out that our bodies are more the same than they are different. The only problem -- but I think it's a serious one -- is that its discussion of girls' bodies is seriously lacking. Boys' external genitalia are a penis and scrotum; girls', labia and a clitoris. But you wouldn't know that from reading this book, which discusses girls' external genitalia solely as "an opening to the vagina". This might not seem like a big deal, but given how confused kids are about their genitals, and this is a book trying to clear that up, then why doesn't it actually do it? Oy. [return][return]Anyway, recommended as long as your kid can't read, so that you, the adult, can amend the text appropriately. ( )

this book explains to children the different body parts we have from boys and girls. The book also explained how our bodies change with our age and how that is completely normal. but also explains how both boys and girls share some of the same body parts ut also different. the book explains how everyone is made special and their is only one of you.

This is a great book for children to learn about their bodies and the differences between boys and girls. Children can learn about their bodies and what happens as they grow up. It is a great way for children to see themselves in a book.

This book is for learning about what make a girl a girl and what makes a boy a boy. This book is perfect for when a kid is confused on what makes them who they are, as well as when a child has a question about something. Ages: 5-8. Source: Pierce County Library System.
